Conservatory management of the bird sanctuary in the Manche
Description
A hunting reserve belonging to the Veys Bay eco-complex, it is designated as a Natura 2000 Special Protection Area and classified as a RAMSAR. The total surface area of the reserve is approximately 265 ha, of which 20 ha is still in water.
A first management plan was put in place in 1998 by the Channel Hunters’ Federation and many conservation management works were carried out: brushing, willow cutting in order to improve the reception of huntable and non-huntable birds. Monthly counts are carried out.
Botanical monitoring is also carried out. They highlighted the presence of 195 species dependent on wetlands, some of which are of local, regional or even national heritage interest or are protected.
