Title of the project
Environmental mediation carried out by hunting organisation
This project was carried out within the framework of the national plan for the Restoration of Bonelli’s Eagle, in partnership with the Regional Conservatory of Natural Areas and the National Office of Hunting and Wild Fauna.
On these 3 large SPA s, the Regional Federation of Hunters of Languedoc-Roussillon has managed a diagnosis of populations of small, sedentary fauna living in flat open country (population, habitat, management methods), including
both game species and species prey to Bonelli’s Eagle. Their aim was also to assess how officials of local hunting organisations perceive their natural heritage and the NATURA 2000 project, in particular through the presence of Bonelli’s
Following this diagnosis, a second project was planned to put in place actions to improve the habitats of small sedentary fauna and raise awareness among hunters regarding NATURA
2000 within the framework of the future preparation of the DOCOB and the conservation of Bonelli’s Eagle on pilot, demonstratives sites.
