Scottish Goose Survey

Description

To determine the numbers of geese shot in Scotland per year

During 2001/02, holders of shotgun certificates
within the area covered by Tayside Constabulary, all BASC members in Scotland and a random selection of BASC members outside Scotland were sent questionnaires about the type of shooting they carried out and specifically the number of geese they shot. During 2002/03, the survey of shotgun licensees was expanded to cover three Regional Police Forces Tayside, Lothian & Borders and Dumfries & Galloway.

Hunters provided the data and the project was run by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation
