Title of the project

Design of a specific seed drill for field borders

Description

The edges of the fields shelter a great floral diversity favourable to many animal species: pollinating insects, cultivation auxiliaries, birds.

The flora on the edges of fields is sometimes “degraded” and composed of weed species that can compete with adjacent crops. To avoid them, frequent grinding is usually but is risky for wildlife.

In this context, it was necessary to have a tool capable of restoring the edges by installing a stable and diversified cover. Designed by the Fédération des chasseurs de Champagne Ardennes, the Chambre d’Agriculture de la Meuse and the Office National de la Chasse et Faune Sauvage, this prototype was designed by students from the IUT de Châlons-en-Champagne thanks to Agrifaune funding.
