Title of the project
Ecological restoration and management of salt meadows in the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel
Description

The National Office for Hunting and Wildlife (ONCFS) controls the concessionary interest for the 50-hectares of salt meadows within the Mont Saint Michel Bay Hunting and Wildlife Reserve. The site being invaded by quackgrass, water bodies were developed in 1996 and 2001 in order to reopen it. Since then, management of the site has been supplemented by an annual crushing of the high vegetation and controlled sheep grazing.
The Hunters Federation of Ille et Vilaine and La Manche, as well as local hunters’ associations, are partners in these actions and have assumed financial aspects of the project.
Furthermore, the regular monitoring of the vegetation and bird life following these developments testifies to the current well-executed management of the site.
