ANUU, the Italian Migratory Hunters Association for the Conservation of the Natural Environment, includes numerous volunteers in its local groups who are primarily engaged in activities related to nature and wildlife.
An agreement has been signed between the Municipality of Cornedo Vicentino, in Veneto, and the Association “ANUU Migratoristi – Italian Migratory Hunters Association for the Conservation of the Natural Environment” for the restoration of historical trails and scenic routes. These will be maintained by ANUU Migratoristi volunteers over the next five years.
The agreement, following a previous three-year collaboration, assigns the association’s volunteers responsibilities for environmental maintenance, cleaning, and monitoring of pedestrian and scenic trails, as well as support for the organisation of local events.
The Mayor of Cornedo Vicentino, Francesco Lanaro, expressed deep gratitude for the volunteers’ work on the territory: “The renewal of this collaboration with ANUU Migratoristi represents a key element in maintaining and enhancing our municipal territory. Hunters and migratory enthusiasts demonstrate through their actions that they are true custodians of the environment. Their commitment goes beyond hunting passion and translates into a tangible, voluntary service for the community. Caring for historical and scenic trails ensures both safety and accessibility of hiking routes, promotes sustainable tourism, and enhances the landscape beauty of Cornedo. The work of these volunteers demonstrates how synergy between institutions and local associations can generate significant public value, preserving our green and cultural heritage for future generations.”
Denis Vigolo, President of the ANUU Migratoristi section of Cornedo Vicentino, added: “We warmly welcome the renewal of this five-year agreement, which consolidates an already established partnership with the Municipal Administration. For ANUU Migratoristi, caring for trails and protecting the environment is not a bureaucratic task but a mission driven by our passion for the territory. The hunting world is often misperceived, but this collaboration proves the opposite: hunters and migratory enthusiasts are the primary custodians of nature. Through our constant presence and the work of our volunteer members, we ensure that historical and scenic pedestrian paths remain clean, safe, and accessible to citizens, hikers, and tourists. Our commitment to the maintenance and enhancement of Cornedo’s landscape is carried out with pride and full respect for rules and safety.”
The initiative aligns with the EU 2030 biodiversity strategy and the European Green Deal, serving as a model of recovery that gives back to the planet more than it takes.
Raising public awareness of natural and biodiversity dynamics is a primary objective for protecting the natural heritage. Establishing a balanced relationship between humans, the environment, and wildlife, through training and hands-on experience, contributes to fully achieving the EU’s goal of preserving biodiversity while encouraging sustainable local practices.
This strategy also aims to strengthen the public image of hunters through teamwork, delivering tangible and positive results.
The initiative was made possible thanks to Giovanni Persona, Vice President of the Italian Migratory Hunters Association and promoter of the project “From the People for the People,” with the support of ANUU, the Italian Migratory Hunters Association.
