The project aimed to stabilize the Iberian lynx populations in Spain and to develop a comprehensive strategy for the conservation of the species. The ultimate goal of the project is to reduce the risk of extinction by: – increasing population size of the Iberian lynx and the wild rabbit: increase the carrying capacity of the environment and reduce mortality – increasing the number of populations: creation of new nuclei through reintroduction. Different actions conducted: wild rabbit increasing; permeabilisation of infrastructure; genetic reinforcement; sanitary control; reintroduction via captive breeding schemes; awareness; lynx population monitoring and rabbit monitoring.
