Title of the project

Energie aus Wildpflanzen

Producing biogas from biomass closely with the goals of biodiversity, nature and environmental protection and establish mixtures of native wild plant species as ecologically necessary and economically viable complement to conventional energy crops in agricultural practice.

Unlike the food and feed production biogas production opens the possibility of different plant species and varieties in pure stands and in mixture to grow and use all the nursery to extract methane. Seed mixtures from income and flowery annual and perennial native wild species and crops offer innovative approaches that energy production from biomass can be more closely linked to objectives of landscape, nature and species protection.

Ecological advantages:

  • Perennial mixtures provide food and cover for wildlife in both summer and winter.
  • Longer flowering times and large flowering areas improve the food supply for insects.
  • Improve the landscape and increase the recreational value of a region.
  • Harvesting at the end of July will reduce the risk of mowing losses among ground-breeders and young animals.
  • In order to prevent the spread of invasive plant species, only native wild plant species are used in the mixtures.
