Title of the project

Improving knowledge of woodcock in the Côtes d’Armor

The Hunters Federation of Côtes d’Armor studies the wintering numbers of woodcock by carrying out ringing operations around the edges of the department’s forest massifs. Every winter, the Federation organizes 3 days of counting on the massifs of the region and the coastal area and lake shores: the Beffou forest, the Avaugour-Bois-Meur massif and Lann Ar Waremme. This makes it possible to monitor the evolution of wintering woodcock populations in these 2 hunting reserves each year.

Since 2009, 202 woodcocks have been ringed by Federation technicians during 180 hours of observation.
